Charity Spotlight: Place of Hope

Place of Hope is an organization in the Palm Beach, Florida area that is dedicated to helping abused and neglected children. They aim to keep siblings together in foster care and provide transitional housing to families in need. The organization also offers safe transitioning for human trafficking victims. This non-profit helps so many so it is our honor to have been a part of their yearly fundraising gala.

The food was modern and delicious and beautifully arranged.

The decor was filled with rhinestones and sparkle. This opulent look set the tone for the night to raise the most money possible.

The entertainment matched the decor of mesmerizing, memorable and momentous. Our circus like performers took an average hula hoop and made it spectacular. These award winning performers bought a wow factor to the gala and kept the guests attention.

Event Spotlight: Pajama Program 2018

One of our favorite events of the year is for Pajama Program. This amazing nonprofit donates pajamas and books to children in shelters or group homes. They believe this simple act for many is a profoundly important ritual for those in need. Changing into pajamas and reading a book before bed impacts children's quality of sleep and leads to days that are rested and ready for learning. Read more about this wonderful organization here.

This year, the theme was "Love is the best light to read in all year round." To bring this theme to life fairy lights accented every centerpiece and was incorporated into the performer's costumes.

The centerpieces were themed for all four seasons. We represented winter, spring, summer and fall and as mentioned, each piece had fairy lights incorporated into them. The fall piece was made of cylinders holding flame calla lilies and ruby mokara orchids. The middle had orange fairy lights and fall leaves were scattered around the table.

The winter piece was a lantern filled with blue fairy lights on top of a bed of white hydrangea, crystal branches, dusty miller leaves, snowy pinecones and silver netted spheres.

The spring centerpiece included cylinders filled with flowering branches, tulips and green orchids. The middle piece had moss and fairy lights.

Summer was represented with a lantern filled with fairy lights on top of a bed of green hydrangea, sunflowers, yellow roses, yellow craspedia, solidago and moss spheres. It also had butterfly accents.


Guests were greeted with our Spring and Summer stilitwalkers. These costumes were custom made for the event.

 Inside, the guests enjoyed our fall and winter performers on pedestals and over the entranceway.

Our open photo booth was a big hit and used their step and repeat as a backdrop.

All four of our performers went on stilts during the reception and went throughout the tables and then in front of the stage. Each one of them held a sign that read I am the light of their particular season. They, along with the centerpiece and coordinating linens, really drove home the theme.

Floral Centerpieces

 
 
For our Floral Friday for this week, we decided to do take a look at the floral centerpieces we have designed for various events.  All of our floral décor is beautifully hand-crafted by Event Kings' subdivision, King Lily Floral Design.
 
The top piece that we chose is made of gorgeous Hydrangeas, Asiatic Lilies, Spray Roses, Orange Roses and Veronica.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is the perfect time for you to try out your own Event Planning Skills.

The internet is a great place, and it is filled with ideas for all different things. Save yourself some time trying to come up with something yourself- and just google it. 

Base your Thanksgiving off of a bunch of different ideas, and just tweak it to make it your own.

Alice in Wonderland

Real Event: Alice in Wonderland!

Last week Event Kings and King Lily Floral produced the Alice and Wonderland Sweet 16. It was so rewarding to take a previous Dream Theme and make it a reality. This particular event was based on the modern Johnny Depp version of the movie. It was held at an amazing Italian restaurant Il Bacco that I previously blogged about (still dreaming about that Osso Buco!).With 4 flat screen TV's (2 in the bathrooms!!) and 2 additional plasma's on truss' we played the movie. It was such a cool touch to have that looping throughout the entire event.
 The client bought the cardboard stand-ups from Shindigz. We had Johnny Depp, Queen of Hearts, Alice and 2 chess pieces....they were life size and so amazing to have around the room.


 These centerpieces are my new favorite! The Mad Hatter hat was placed on top of a bed of green, pink and hot pink roses. I placed peacock feathers in the vase and another coming out of the hat for extra height. On the table were gold gilded candles and custom favors the client made (think DRINK ME tea for adults and DRINK ME hot chocolate for the kids...how cute!).

 We also had giant Queen of hearts playing cards around the room!
The table #'s were created by the same designers who made the invite. It was great to incorporate the mad hatter hat from the beginning!

 The customized sign in book was from Etsy. Hint: bring it around to the tables of older relatives; they will be grateful to sit and write!
Chess piece place card holders were another nice detail.


A packed dance floor is a sure sign of a successful event!
The cake almost trumped my centerpieces...OK, I admit; it was a true show stopper and the perfect ending to a fabulous party!

Flower Friday: Bling Blinging!

A wonderful client of ours wanted a gold and white centerpiece that incorporated gold and looked lush  for their banquet dinner. I found these great gold cube vases and we used an all white palate for the flowers. In order to bring the gold in more and make it look a bit more corporate I placed gold tings across the top of each piece...they looked like orbs of gold.

I used hydrangea, stock, alstromeria, polar star roses, queen Anna's lace and dendro orchids for each piece.
The table had a gold vine overlay, gold square chargers and gold filigree votive holders.
Of course we had to bring in gold chivari chairs with ivory satin chair covers to complete the look.

Every wedding is my favorite because I love working with bride and grooms on their special day. This one was no different. Our friends Michael and Melissa got married last weekend at the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip. (side note about the venue; it was awesome! So laid back and accommodating plus, being guests I can tell you the food was great.) She said to me that she wanted color and color she got! It was so vibrant and appropriate for the season, space and time (afternoon) of the affair. I wanted to wait until I got the professional pictures but I was just so excited I had to post what I took. As you are setting up you tend to forget to take pictures, hence none of the ceremony.
For the place card table I wrapped different cylinder vases in ribbon. One red and white floral and the other a thin sage green. I placed small bouquets of the flowers from the centerpieces in each - like a deconstructed bouquet. Pictured above are orange alstromeria, red mini gerbera daisies and shocking pink roses with wow roses mixed in.
Here are button mums, miracle roses and mini green hydrangea. I also dropped an LED light in the red ribboned vases for a little extra drama.
I got these wonderful peonies that were opened to their max. I didn't know if they would survive but they stayed refrigerated and lasted. I used a single bud for the cocktail hour to add a different element.

The bouquets were the green hydrangea with miracle, wow and shocking pink roses. I accented it with yellow yarrow to give the flowers some texture. The handles were wrapped in both the red floral and green ribbon. The bride's bouquet was similar but I added lush pink peonies to make it a bit softer.
The centerpieces were in these gorgeous mini urns that went perfectly with the old mansion vibe of the venue. They were low which went well since the ceiling was not too high and the vibrant colors filled the room.
The cake was awesome both in appearance and taste ( I only had 2 slices). The ribbon was placed on their by the baker Rolling Pin Bakery . I added the flowers where the ribbon came together. The light bouquets were for the moms. I used ivory roses, hydrangea and button mums. Hopefully I can post the boutonnieres and ceremony when I get
the professional pictures.

What I love best about this wedding is the use of 4 different colors. I always see 2 color combos and this goes to show you that adding a few more will only add to its depth and vibrancy.
